Environmental (Dogs/Cats/Horses)

Environmental tests for the detection of indoor and outdoor allergens i.e. tree, weed and grass pollens, fleas and mites etc. Environmental allergies (atopy) are IgE mediated reactions. The clinical signs of these allergies are pruritic such as scratching, chewing, licking etc resulting in skin disease, hair loss, chronic ear infections and respiratory problems.

Food (Dogs/Cats/Horses)

Food tests for the detection of allergy/intolerance to the main ingredients in a pets diet - beef, wheat, milk, rice etc. The IgE and IgG serological tests reduce the time and discipline required to conduct a lengthy elimination/provocation test by pinpointing the offending foods to select the appropriate hypoallergenic diet at the start.

Malassezia (Dogs)

Malassezia is a type of common yeast organism found on dogs skin. Certain factors can cause the yeast to multiply and become pathogenic resulting in skin problems for the dog. The SENSITEST® Malassezia test detects circulating IgE and IgG antibodies to malassezia in canine serum.

Sarcoptes (Dogs)

Sarcoptes is a common transmissible disease affecting dogs. These parasitic mites induce severe allergic reactions in dogs. The SENSITEST® Sarcoptes test detects circulating IgG antibodies to sarcoptes mite (mange) in canine serum.

Staphylococcus (Dogs)

Staphylococcus is a bacterial infection affecting dogs. In cases of recurrent pyoderma it is especially important to assess the role of staphylococcus infections in the work up of allergy. Developed in conjunction with Edinburgh University, the SENSITEST® Staphylococcus test detects circulating IgE and IgG antibodies to Staphylococcus in canine serum.

Culicoides (Horses)

Culicoides is a real problem for horses especially when they have just been turned out for the  summer. This test is included in our standalone SENSITEST® Equine Insects and Mites panel.
