Allergy Management

It is important to remember that whilst allergies cannot be cured, they can be controlled. You can help the animal by pinpointing the problem allergens and then reducing their exposure to them. Many animals whose allergies are controlled make remarkable improvements in their health and wellbeing.

The results of a SENSITEST® will provide a useful aid to discuss the animal's problems and indicate the most suitable actions to take.

If foods are identified as the cause of the allergy, then a new diet that avoids the problem food may be recommended. You will need to ensure that any treats or snacks don't contain the offending food. A chart of the results, a food allergy leaflet and diet charts can be provided to assist in the planning of your pet's new diet.

If an environmental allergy is identified, such as pollens, fleas or dust mites, avoiding or controlling the offending allergens is more difficult. If the animal is identified as having an environmental allergy you will be given a booklet containing advice on how to limit exposure and minimise the presence of the offending allergen.
